Education Builds Bridges

Our club is sponsoring the education of an Indonesian student under the Lions Education Builds Bridges project.

Education Builds Bridges sponsors the education of children in Bandung, Indonesia. The club’s modest donation is one of many which creates a positive impact to many lives – the child, family, friends and peers, the school, the community and the lives that will be ‘touched’ in the future.

All money donated to the project is distributed via the Lions Clubs in Bandung to the schools involved.

Together with the support from sponsors like Beecroft Cheltenham Lions Club, 73 children are being sponsored to further their education and we are now seeing many children realising their dream of education.

Just $180 per year realises a child’s dream. Students who graduated from year 12 have sent letters of thanks, and here is a rough translation of a sample letter from one of those children.

“My name is Ivan, graduated from High School in Lembang 2010. My great attitude to Lions who has helped me that I could finish my school and passed my exam.
Thanks again very much. Without your help, I hardly could pass my high school. I hope in the future, you could help more students in their financial difficulties and needs for the study.

The support of each sponsors is greatly appreciated by the children, their families and their communities, as well as creating a caring relationship with some of our closest neighbours.
